A 10 feet deep and 20 feet wide sinkhole appeared beneath the University Bridge in Seattle, Washington. The hole swallowed two cars that were parked at the location.  The sinkhole occurred on the path of a water distribution pipes resulting in over 30 customers losing water service.  One of the pipes was a water main built in 1912.  The repair of the sinkhole was also complicated by the existence of a gas pipe.
